Update on Recent UCF Alerts

Posted February 26, 2015

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in two recent off-campus armed robberies that UCF Police notified you about through UCF Alert.

A 31-year-old man who just completed an 11-year prison sentence in Tennessee for aggravated robbery was arrested on charges connected with the Feb. 15 incident at Subway and the Feb. 23 incident at Del Taco, both near University Boulevard and Alafaya Trail. The man is not a UCF student or employee.

Witness statements played a critical role in his arrest. Bystanders described what he did, what he looked like and how he fled the scene. Those details help police solve cases.

Please never underestimate the importance of reporting crime or suspicious activity. If you see something, say something.

When we see or hear something, we reach out to you via UCF Alert. We've done this a lot recently.

Our intention isn't to cause alarm. We want you to be aware of anything that could have a significant impact to campus operations or to your safety and the welfare of other Knights.

Remember that campus safety is a shared responsibility.

We count on you to help us prevent and report crime, and you depend on us to patrol campus and protect you.
