Campus Awareness: Armed Robbery Near Campus

Posted April 29, 2016

The UCF Police Department overnight assisted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office with an armed robbery near the main campus.

A man with no UCF affiliation who was released from prison in May 2015 for aggravated assault and armed robbery charges robbed the Circle K on Alafaya Trail across the street from UCF and near the Knights Circle student housing complex.

He was later apprehended by OCSO deputies and taken to jail. Nobody was injured.

UCFPD assisted with the scene, and we did not believe there to be any imminent threat to the UCF community.

We’re reaching out today to remind you of simple precautions to stay safe.

Always be aware of your surroundings. Especially at night, it’s important to travel in groups and keep your cell phone and car keys handy.

Most importantly, if you see activity that seems suspicious, say something. Contact UCFPD at 407-823-5555 or dial 911 if you are witnessing a crime in progress.
