Be Mindful of Your Safety

Posted January 29, 2015

The UCF Police Department reminds you to remain vigilant about safety and to take precautions to protect your home, vehicle and belongings.

Burglaries and thefts have recently occurred off-campus, and many of the incidents involved unlocked homes and cars.

Remember to always keep your doors and windows locked, even when you are home. Know who is at your door before you open it. Never post personal information such as your address or when you will or won't be home on social media.

Always lock your car, and make sure that all windows are up before you walk away from your vehicle. Never leave your belongings in plain sight in your vehicle; take them with your or place them in your trunk.

Consider registering your personal property online with us. Items such as computers, bikes and other valuables can be entered and assigned a serial number, which could be helpful in recovering lost or stolen items.

UCFPD also engraves laptops, tablets, bicycles, skateboards and other valuables for free as part of the nationally recognized Operation ID program.
