BA I Incident Update

The UCF Police Department thanks the campus community for its cooperation and support during the Feb. 28 incident at Business Administration I.

UCFPD has identified the two people involved -- one who interrupted class and threw powder into the air and another who recorded the disturbance. The powder was identified as non-toxic, and nobody was injured.

Those involved indicated that their actions were a joke and that they didn’t mean to cause any harm.

The UCF Police Department alerts you an attempted battery that took place on campus last night.

A female student reported that an unknown male approached her around 6 p.m. inside of Garage C and asked for assistance with his vehicle. He then reached over in an attempt to touch her leg. She screamed, and he ran away.

The woman immediately contacted police. She described the man as a 5'7 thin, dark-skinned male with glasses who was wearing a gray sweater and dark pants. She said he appeared college-aged and spoke with an accent.

*UCF Alert* The UCF Police Department alerts you to a suspicious incident that occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday near the loading dock behind Tower 3, close to Gemini Boulevard.

Two residents reported to police that they heard an altercation and looked out the window and saw a female screaming for help.  

We do not know who the woman is. She was described being a thin, white female with long blonde hair, wearing a vibrant pink shirt and leggings.

As we approach the holiday season, the UCF Police Department reminds you to take steps to protect yourself from scammers and thieves.

It isn’t unusual for law enforcement to see an increase in shopper robberies, get-rich-quick schemes, and other scams around this time of year. UCF is no exception to these crimes.

Just this week, we’ve seen criminals targeting our students. That’s why we remind you to always be vigilant about your safety.

UCF Alert: Bear Spotted Near Knights Plaza

The UCF Police Department has received a report of a bear sighting on campus near Knights Plaza.

Bears are typically quiet and shy, but they are wild animals. It is important to remain alert of your surroundings and to be aware of how to react should you see a bear. Never approach or surprise a bear, and do not feed or intentionally attract them. 

Campus Awareness: Home Invasion, Armed Robbery at Knights Circle

The UCF Police Department was made aware late Wednesday of an incident that occurred Tuesday at Knights Circle.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, two men armed with handguns entered an apartment in Knights Circle and demanded and stole valuables.

The two suspects are described as tall, black males who wore dark clothing and covered their faces with scarves.

Police believe the apartment was targeted, and it was determined that one of the roommates was engaged in selling drugs.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted sexual battery that occurred early this morning near the Marquee apartments across the street from UCF.

Deputies responded to a call about a suspicious incident at 1:27 a.m. A female victim reported that she was approached by a white male who grabbed her and attempted to sexually batter her.

Campus Awareness: Video Voyeur Arrested on Campus

The UCF Police Department on Wednesday arrested a man who stuck his cellphone under a bathroom stall at the CFE Arena in an effort to film women. 

Jonathan Justin Hui, a 21-year-old UCF student, is pictured here: 

After being caught recording, Hui attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended by two brave bystanders. Police arrived on scene, got a positive suspect identification from witnesses and arrested Hui on multiple charges. He has been trespassed from campus. 

Campus Awareness: Armed Robbery Near Campus

The UCF Police Department overnight assisted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office with an armed robbery near the main campus.

A man with no UCF affiliation who was released from prison in May 2015 for aggravated assault and armed robbery charges robbed the Circle K on Alafaya Trail across the street from UCF and near the Knights Circle student housing complex.

He was later apprehended by OCSO deputies and taken to jail. Nobody was injured.

UCFPD assisted with the scene, and we did not believe there to be any imminent threat to the UCF community.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office earlier this morning responded to a report of an armed home invasion robbery at the Tivoli Apartments across the street from UCF.

Two suspects entered the victim’s unlocked apartment around 12:30 a.m. They pointed a gun at him, demanded money and then left.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. Based upon the circumstances, UCFPD does not believe there to be an imminent threat to the UCF community.

However, we remind you to take simple precautions to stay safe.
