UCFPD Chief Completes Year of International Police Leadership

UCF Police Chief Richard Beary on Oct. 27 completed his term as president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the same day President Obama delivered an address to the chiefs attending the 122nd Annual IACP Conference and Exposition.

Chief Beary, a 38-year law enforcement veteran, is the first chief of a university or college law enforcement agency to hold the title of IACP president. He was sworn in as the organization’s leader during last year’s IACP conference, which was held in Orlando.

UCFPD Swears In 5 New Officers

Though each’s path to the badge has been different, five police officers on Monday became united in their mission to protect and serve the University of Central Florida.

The officers were joined by family, friends, UCF Police Department leadership and staff, and others from the UCF community for a swearing-in ceremony.

UCF Hosts Prescription Drug Take Back Event Sept. 24

Members of the UCF community can hand over unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs with no questions asked Thursday, Sept. 24.

UCF’s 6th-annual Drug Take Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Student Union.

Free Workshops Offered as Part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month

As part of UCF's observance of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, the UCF Police Department will join agencies from campus and the community in a series of workshops about safety and well-being.

25-Year UCFPD Veteran to Retire, Hit the Road for Family History Lesson

UCF Police Officer Jeannette Emert is trading in the keys to her police cruiser for keys to a motorhome and hitting the road for an adventure with her family.

Emert will retire Aug. 31 after 25 years with UCFPD. Next year she and her husband, UCFPD Lt. Jerry Emert, who retires in April, will take off in their 2003 Beaver RV with their children for the most hands-on history lesson out there.

UCFPD Increasing Underage Drinking and DUI Enforcement Friday

The UCF Police Department will partner with other agencies Friday in an alcohol enforcement detail near the main campus.

UCFPD and the Orange County Sheriff's Office's SNAP detail, which targets underage drinking and irresponsible partying behavior, will be in effect. Those violating drinking laws are subject to written or physical arrests and referrals to the Office of Student Conduct.

Traffic Advisory: Summer Commencement Ceremonies

Intermittent road closures and traffic delays will take place near the CFE Arena Saturday due to UCF’s commencement ceremonies.

Students, staff and faculty members, and campus visitors are encouraged to follow directions provided on message boards to minimize traffic congestion and delays.
