Saturday's Heart Walk: Traffic and Parking Impact

The American Heart Association's Heart Walk will be held on our UCF campus for the third consecutive year on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Heart Walk route will cover the following roads, which will be closed from approximately 7 to 10 a.m.: the two inside lanes of the Gemini Boulevard loop, the two inside lanes of Greek Park Drive and all of East Plaza Drive and West Plaza Drive.

The two outside lanes of the Gemini Boulevard loop and Greek Park Drive will remain open to traffic, with all traffic moving one way in a counterclockwise direction.

Free Workshops Offered as Part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month

As part of UCF's observance of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, the UCF Police Department will join agencies from campus and the community in a series of workshops about safety and well-being.

25-Year UCFPD Veteran to Retire, Hit the Road for Family History Lesson

UCF Police Officer Jeannette Emert is trading in the keys to her police cruiser for keys to a motorhome and hitting the road for an adventure with her family.

Emert will retire Aug. 31 after 25 years with UCFPD. Next year she and her husband, UCFPD Lt. Jerry Emert, who retires in April, will take off in their 2003 Beaver RV with their children for the most hands-on history lesson out there.

From New Orleans to Texas to the Grand Canyon and eventually Alaska, the Emerts will take school on the road and make every day a field trip for their 8-year-old and 15-year-old.

Traffic Advisory: Summer Commencement Ceremonies

Intermittent road closures and traffic delays will take place near the CFE Arena Saturday due to UCF’s commencement ceremonies.

Students, staff and faculty members, and campus visitors are encouraged to follow directions provided on message boards to minimize traffic congestion and delays.

Parking garages D and H will be reserved for the commencement ceremonies. Parking will be available in garages A, B, C, I or Libra and in adjacent parking lots.

UCF to Test Emergency Communication Tools July 22

UCF’s preparations for potential emergency situations include regular tests of communication tools that provide critical information to students, staff and faculty members, and the public.

Several of those UCF Alert tools will be tested Wednesday, July 22.

During an emergency, the UCF website is the best place for the university community and the public to find the latest updates.

UCF Police Chief, NHTSA Encourage Community to Replace Recalled Air Bags

UCF and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration today encouraged consumers to replace defective Takata air bags, which are believed to be the cause of eight deaths, including a 2014 fatality in Orlando.

NHTSA is overseeing the recall of an estimated 32 million vehicles equipped with the defective air bags.

The air bags have been recalled due to ruptured inflators. These inflators can rupture when the air bag deploys, sending metal fragments at high speed into the passenger compartment where they can cause serious injuries.

UCFPD K-9 Buster Retires Due to Medical Reasons

The UCF Police Department today said a bittersweet goodbye to Buster, the agency’s newest K-9 who has been forced into retirement due to medical reasons.

Buster, a 21-month-old German shepherd, joined UCFPD in November and became certified with Ofc. Matthew Scott in April following more than 400 hours of training.

Speed Limit Lowered to 20mph on Libra Drive

The speed limit along Libra Drive has dropped to 20mph as construction crews work to widen the road.

The UCF Police Department is asking you to slow down and be mindful of the change. We will be enforcing the speed limit, and speeding fines will be doubled when workers are present.

The construction will expand Libra Drive from two lanes to four from Gemini Boulevard South to the entrance of Central Florida Research Park.  An eastbound right turn lane also will be added at Gemini Boulevard and Libra Drive.

The UCF Police Department is asking drivers to slow down as construction crews work on widening Libra Drive from Gemini Boulevard South to the entrance of Central Florida Research Park.

The project will expand Libra Drive from two lanes to four and will add an eastbound right turn lane at Gemini Boulevard and Libra Drive. Completion is expected by March 2016.

Tip-A-Cop to Raise Money for Special Olympics Florida

Officers from the University of Central Florida Police Department will collect money from Chick-fil-A diners tomorrow in support of Special Olympics Florida.

The Tip-A-Cop event will start at the Chick-fil-A at University Boulevard and Rouse Road at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 29.
