Avoid working late nights and weekends in
isolated offices or labs.

At night, walk only in well lighted walkways
or parking lots.

After an evening class, if possible, walk with someone you
know to your car.

Check the back seat of your car before you
get in.

AT HOME OR IN A RESIDENT HALL

Never prop doors open or let someone into the
resident hall you don't know.

Don't open your home or room doors to strangers. Utility
companies or UCF staff members furnish ID badges.

Keep emergency numbers near your telephone.

Lock your apartment or residence hall doors
as soon as you enter or leave.

Always have your keys out and ready when you
come to your door.

If you notice any signs of forced entry when
you come home, don't enter.

Never leave a message on your door.
WHILE WALKING

Walk briskly: look alert and confident.

If someone follows you, walk towards a store,
lighted area, a classroom building or a busy street.
