Fire Safety Residence Halls
and Academic Building

As part of a statewide regulation, each residence has smoke detectors connected to the building's alarm system. Once activated, the alarm system will contact the University Police Department and an officer will be dispatched immediately. Automatic pull stations and fire extinguishers are located on each floor. For residential halls and apartment living, more information is provided as a part of the Department of Housing and Residence Life's informational packets that new students receive each year. Academic buildings also provide a similar system of smoke detectors, fire alarms and extinguishers, fire doors and walls that are required under state regulations. Frequent visits from the university's fire safety officer and State Fire Marshal's Office reassures everyone's safety.

The Orange and Seminole County Fire Department's Station 65 is located on campus to serve the university community.
